Letter from our captain for 2022, Malcolm Potter
Dear Member,
Welcome to another exciting year at Wigtown and Bladnoch Golf Club! Let us hope that 2022 will see us put the challenges of the last two years well and truly behind us and establish a new normality.
With the 2022 fixture list now confirmed, I am sure you can see for yourself how many competitions are available for members to participate in. With the number of options available, hopefully there is something for everyone.
Alongside our incoming Lady Captain Angela Potter, we will be hosting our Captain v Vice-Captain Opening Event on Sunday 3rd April and I hope to see many of you at the club to take part in this “non-competitive” event. I wish Angela a hugely successful year as Lady Captain and look forward to working with her and our Ladies section during my year as Men’s Captain.
I’m excited to announce that nobody has accepted the role as my Vice-Captain of the club for 2022, moving into Captain from 2023. This excellent opportunity is still there for those aspirational go-getters. Equally, the committee is always delighted to welcome back experienced captains who may have more time on their hands who are happy to give this to the club.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome any new members we also have this year. If you have a handicap to play for, please reach out to any of the existing members if you need to get a round or two in. We are a friendly bunch, and you will soon realize all our members are more than willing to join up with you. The Facebook page is a great way to make initial contact.
As we continue to try to grow the club, please keep your suggestions coming in whether it is golf competition ideas, social night ideas or any other thoughts you may have that could benefit the members. This is your club, and we want as much feedback as possible to help us continue to grow.
If you haven’t dusted the clubs off this year yet, get yourself down to the club soon. Those handicaps won’t just magically drop 😊. Thanks to greenkeeper Ross and all volunteers the course is starting to take shape and will look fantastic once it has a chance to dry and grow.
Play well everyone, but most of all, enjoy your golf!
Yours Sincerely,
Malcolm
Club Captain
