Saturday 30th July saw the Briars Engravers Mixed Greensomes Open being held at Wigtown and Bladnoch. Ian Robinson from Briars has always excelled himself with a generous array of prizes and today was no exception.

The W MacDonald and Son Gents Open was played today at a sunny but blustery Wigtown and Bladnoch. Many thanks to Alan MacDonald for his continued generous sponsorship of this long-established competition.

The Mary Stewart Greensomes were held today at Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club. Despite wet and windy conditions, 16 hardy pairs braved the elements and challenges of the course. Played over 9 holes the results were as follows:

1st – Marjory Vance & Elspeth Lindsay – 49-15=34

2nd – Mary Robertson & Jessica Broatch – 50-15=35(best last 6)

3rd – Susie Niven & Jane Carson – 50-15=35

Scratch – Margaret Locke & Pamela Watson – 41

Tonight we held the Campbell Scramble. This competition was started by a great stalwart of Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club and a really lovely man Greig Campbell, who is sadly missed by all. The weather was kind to us with the rain clearing away before before Tee off. The winners were Sandra McGinn, Aaron Milven and Susan Bell.

Today saw the Cancer Charity Fundraiser Open, sponsored by Wigtown Rangers Supporters Club being played at Wigtown and Bladnoch.

The new 3 person scramble format proved to be popular with a good entry from as far afield as Dumfries. Thanks to the sale of raffle tickets and entry money, almost £1800 was raised for Cancer charities.
