Welcome from the Easter Bunny!

The Easter Bunny hopped down from the Club House window and onto the first tee to welcome golfers to Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club on this glorious Easter weekend. The Course is looking lovely.

The Fixture list is now available on the website. Missing is the opening Captain v Vice Captain as it is really just a get together and they aren’t allowed yet!

However we are pleased to announce that we have a Covid Officer in place. This allows up to 4 people from up to 4 households to golf together. We are also welcoming visitors who live in Dumfries & Galloway Council region.

PLEASE book your Tee Times and remember to book 2 times roughly 1.30 hours apart if doing 18 holes.

Happy Easter Golfing from everyone at Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club.

Welcome letter from the Captain

Dear Members, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2021 season at Wigtown and Bladnoch Golf Club. As we all are aware last season was somewhat disjointed because of Covid19 but we managed through and played all our club competitions and medals but had to miss out on our open competitions which was unavoidable. The committee and I have decided to try and have a full fixture list for the coming season and our sponsors are willing to support us, so provided that Covid rules allow hopefully we can enjoy our golf and our competitions. Our Green Keeper Matthew has now moved on to another career and I would personally like to thank him for all his work and commitment to the club over the past seven years and would like to wish him all the very best in his new endeavour. We have posted on social media that the club requires a new Green keeper and have had to date a few enquiries.I must also say a big thank you to Sharon and Malcolm for their hard work and service on the committee over the past few years. The committee has decided to keep all fees the same as 2020 and it may be necessary to discount the fees should any changes be made by the government in the future.I wish all members all the very best for the new season and will do my best to serve as your Captain along with the committee to ensure that the club flourishes in the coming season.

Robin McHarg

AGM 2021

Due to the ongoing Covid restrictions we are unable to hold our AGM 2021 in the Club House which was scheduled for wednesday 10th February. We preferred not to have an online AGM, probably a good idea given the recent Handford Parish Council experience! We will therefore continue with resolutions agreed at the 2020 AGM.  Robin McHarg will take over as Captain from Neil Cluckie, and Sandra McGinn will take over as Ladies Captain from Marion Cluckie. We wish them both well.

We would like to thank Sharon Milven for doing an excellent job as Club Secretary for the last 5 years. Sharon has decided to step down effective from today, therefore we are urgently needing a Secretary. Please would all members consider coming forward to join the committee and fill this important post.

Malcolm Potter is also standing down from the Committee. We would like to thank him for his sterling work over several years as Match Secretary. Therefore we have another vacancy on the Committee.

The accounts for 2020 are available to view on the website under “members”.  Once again we thank Helen Bark for auditing them.

The fees will remain as per those agreed at AGM February 2020. Those who didn’t get their COVID discount last year are eligible for it this year.  The fees will be as follows:

Full members: £250         (Discount £210)

 Full members aged 18 – 21: £160              (Discount £135)

Juniors (secondary school): £70                 (Discount £60)

Juveniles (primary school): £40                 (Discount £35)

Country members (live over 25 miles away) £160              (Discount £135)

Associate members (members of another club) £110       (Discount £95)

We are intending to have a comprehensive fixture list. Details will follow when available.

Hopefully we will return to “Normal” golfing conditions this year. We wish all golfers a safe and enjoyable season in 2021.

A new Club Secretary required

We are looking for a new club secretary and would ask all members to consider stepping forward and giving some of their valuable time to contribute towards the smooth running of the Club. Full training will be given! If you are interested, please contact any committee member or email

Farewell To Matthew, our Green Keeper

Green Keepers Challenge 2018 - 2nd Green

2nd Green

After 7 seasons of doing a first class job Green Keeping at Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club, Matthew has decided to move on to a career within the Care Sector. We wish him all the best in his new job and cannot praise him highly enough for the excellent work done on the Golf Course. The Course has been in outstanding condition. Matthew has also provided us with the hugely successful Green Keeper’s Challenge competitions. His contribution to the Club has been immense.  He will remain a popular club member so we will still see him out on the Golf Course.

We therefore have a vacancy for a Green Keeper.

Tier 4 COVID 19 Restrictions

The Club Committee would like to advise members of the Covid 19 restrictions in place at the moment. The Clubhouse, toilets and locker rooms are all closed but the course remains open. As we don’t have a Covid officer, this means that a maximum of 2 households can play together with up to 4 people allowed per group. These restrictions will be in place until the guidance from Scottish Golf and the Scottish Government changes.

We wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, Safe and Prosperous New Year.
